The shoe monk strap double buckle MARECHIARO model is made strictly by hand by our expert Neapolitan artisans who together with the enormous value of the black calfskin leather, one of the most refined leathers in the category, makes it reflect its maximum splendor combined with its maximum elegance.
This model of shoe matches perfectly under blazers, but also under jeans for a more sporty style in all 4 seasons of the year.
The double buckle leather shoe is made with a pin and with the flap closure given by the 2 silver-colored buckles, the non-slip real leather heel is 3 cm high: height considered ideal by experts for correct walking, the welt also in real leather.
Another detail of uniqueness and absolute quality is given both by the sole in real leather with visible stitching hand-painted in blue color (a hallmark of our shoe) and by the inner lining which is entirely in blue goat leather.
The fine goat leather allows the foot to rest and be wrapped in this very soft leather so as to be extremely comfortable especially when it is used all day.

The history of this model (monk strap) As the term “monk” (monk) suggests, the monk strap descends from the sandals with buckles that monks wore in medieval times. Or rather, from the solution to such footwear. The traditional sandal left most of the foot uncovered, in fact, and was definitely uncomfortable on stony paths or in the fields. Thus, the upper was closed and the buckles were retained. The monks simply used them as work shoes, because they protected more and were more comfortable to work than sandals. And the buckle, or buckles, made them look quite similar to traditionally worn sandals. The shoes the monks wore were of different types, actually. The type that has survived to the present day is a sort of cross between sandals and derbies, with a “mobile” part that goes over the tongue and one or two straps to close the shoe.
